Jeffrey R. Stacey
Jeff is in his seventh year with the firm and is the firm’s primary lawyer with respect to charter renewal, non-renewal, and revocation litigation. Jeff has personally handled cases from complaint through to appeal and regularly represents charter school clients before the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the State Charter School Appeal Board, before the Office of Dispute Resolution in special education due process hearings, and before other state agencies and state courts.
Aggressive litigation is always a last resort, and Jeff prefers to impart his legal knowledge to prevent those conditions that lead to legal disputes. In that regard Jeff has spoken before a number of charter schools on special education and other topical issues.
Jeff was recently successful before the Pennsylvania State Charter School Appeal Board (“CAB”) in overturning a school district’s revocation of a school’s charter in a case that may have wide-ranging influence on future revocation matters. In I-LEAD Charter School v. Reading School District, CAB No. 2016-05, Jeff handled all trial work at the school district level and all matters related to the appeal with CAB.
Jeff is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and lives in Northwest Philadelphia with his wife and children.
